COVID-19 Statement - Reptile Encounters

COVID-19 Statement

By New Admin/17 March 2020

As concerns about the spread of Coronavirus COVID-19 increase, we’re reaching out with a brief update to let you know how the Reptile Encounters team is preparing and planning during this time. The health and safety of our team and everyone who uses our services is our priority, so we’d like you to bear with us while we work through this situation.

Our Mobile Zoo remains open for business at this stage.

Visitors are still welcome to our Headquarters by appointment, and we will still visit you to provide our wildlife activations.

We have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it unfolds in Victoria, Australia, and around the world, and we would like to let you know that we are continuously planning the best course of action. While the overall risk in Australia of contracting COVID-19 in the community remains low, we’re taking a number of steps to increase your protection.

We’re closely following all advice received from Australian medical authorities, as well as the World Health Organisation (WHO), regarding precautions that are needed to minimise risks concerned with CONVID-19.

In regards to the current State of Emergency declared by the Victorian Government, current events organised by Reptile Encounters do not fall under the definitions requiring these events to be cancelled. However certain events Reptile Encounters has been booked to be a part of do meet these definitions, and as such have been cancelled or postponed. Please check the websites or social media accounts of these events for up to date information. We will keep you updated with any further changes to events organised by Reptile Encounters, should the definitions of the State of Emergency be changed or be extended.

Reptile Encounters staff have been briefed and trained to follow the highest hygiene and cleaning practices. These include frequent hand sanitising, keeping safe distances from members and staying home if they feel at all unwell.

Based on WHO advice on business best practices we are also introducing a quarantine period of 14 days for any staff that have or are travelling overseas.

We will continue to monitor the national and global response to COVID-19 so please keep an eye on our social media accounts for our most up to date announcements.

If you are seeking the latest information on COVID-19, please call the Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080. This line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
