The Business xCellence Awards, now in their eighth year, are a beacon of success for entrepreneurs and business owners across the globe. Winning this award is a testament to the innovation, dedication, and exceptional service that Reptile Encounters has demonstrated over the years.

Reptile Encounters, a vibrant and interactive zoo based in Burwood, was founded by Josh Cox in 2007. With a lifelong passion for Australian wildlife and inspired by his parents’ teaching careers, Josh embarked on a mission to bring nature into classrooms. Armed with a Medical Science degree from LaTrobe University and experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Josh turned his dream into reality, educating students about the wonders of the natural world.

Overcoming the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Reptile Encounters has emerged stronger than ever, boasting a dedicated team of 54 members. Their resilience and commitment have not gone unnoticed. In 2023, they clinched the Monash Business Awards for Science & Education, were finalists in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards in Children’s Educational Services, and won the Enablement Awards for Most Outstanding Innovation in the NDIS/Disability sector.
