Meet the team behind our Kids Parties, Events and Reptile Shows. Melbourne based Reptile Encounters are:

Josh Cox

Josh started Reptile Encounters in 2007, following a lifelong interest in Australian wildlife. As a youngster he kept blue tongue lizards and turtles; it wasn't long before the family home resembled a wildlife sanctuary. Special micro habitats filled the bedroom and every corner of the house! Josh brings this same passion for wildlife to Reptile Encounters.

Josh holds a Bachelor of Medical Science degree from La Trobe University and also completed studies in zoology. It was studying zoology that inspired Josh to follow the path of wildlife presenting. Josh aims to combine his experience with Australian wildlife and his science background to help educate people about Australia’s unique environment.

Jay

With many years’ experience keeping venomous and non-venomous snakes, Jay is our resident snake expert. He is regularly called out to rescue tiger snakes from people’s backyards and occasionally their living rooms!

He plans to use his wealth of experience keeping snakes to educate people about what to do when they encounter one of our slithery friends. Jay was recently the proud father of a clutch of spotted pythons.

Jacki

Jacki has always been surrounded by wildlife, she has a wealth of experience looking after animals and educating the public. Jacki has been a wildlife carer for as long as she can remember and is always nursing animals back to good health. She has been a veterinary nurse and has extensive training in wildlife care.

Jacki is always eager to entertain and hopes to share her experience with you at your next Reptile Encounter!

Catherine

Catherine has had a love of all creatures great and small from early childhood. After completing a Bachelor of Science at Melbourne University she moved to South Australia to work at Yookamurra Sanctuary as a tour guide and animal attendant. She was proud to be involved in the captive and semi-captive breeding programs of threatened and endangered Australian species such as the Numbat and Bilby.

Catherine is thrilled to return to working with animals after raising a brood of her own.
